Wayne N. Curtis, President (Class of 1982)
Wayne joined William and Mary GALA in 1987 and served as a member of the Board of Directors in the late 80s and early 90s. As Vice President, he helped plan GALA's celebration of the Tercentenary of the College in 1993. He returned to the Board in 1998, became Treasurer in 2000 and President of the Board in 2003.
Originally from Stafford, Virginia, Wayne received an AB from William and Mary and an MA in American History from the University of Delaware. He then spent 12 years in Boston, working in advertising and publishing -- including three years as an Editor and Publication Manager at Alyson Publications (one of the earliest and largest gay and lesbian publishing houses), two years as the Assistant Art Director for a national magazine, and four years as Production Manager for an international academic publisher.
Wayne now lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his partner, Ed, and since 1998 has had a successful career as a Realtor, affiliated with Long and Foster Real Estate, Inc.

Dr. Sue Peterson (Faculty)
Sue is the Dean of Undergraduate Studies in Arts & Sciences and the Wendy and Emery Reves Professor of Government and International Relations at the College of William & Mary. From 2005 to 2007 she served as Dean for Educational Policy in Arts & Sciences. Her teaching and research interests include national and international security, U.S. foreign policy, and global health, particularly epidemic disease. From 2003 to 2006 she served as editor-in-chief of the journal, Security Studies.
Before joining the William & Mary faculty in 1994, Sue taught at the School of International Relations at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. From 1989 to 1991 she was a John M. Olin Fellow in National Security at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. She holds a B.A. from St. Lawrence University and a M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
As an undergraduate Sue became active on a number of social justice issues and worked after graduation for several years as a political organizer. She remains active in her local community. A former chair of the board of directors of the Williamsburg AIDS Network, she also served on the board of directors of the Peninsula AIDS Foundation and on the editorial board of Our Own Community News, Virginia’s statewide newspaper serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities until 1998. She continues to be active on social justice issues through her church, the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists.
Sue lives in Williamsburg with her partner, Heather, and their daughter, Norah.
